Artist Statement: Elements of great clothing are color, texture, and versatility. I use a surface design method which I invented and which I call organic piecing. It involves the use of many fabrics in a rich but subtle color range, combined with irregular shapes and blended by over-stitching. The result is a complex, mysterious surface much like an abstract watercolor. I use only natural fabrics and pay close attention to contrasting textures, in order to make a garment that is pleasurable to wear as well as wonderful to look at.
