Artist Statement: With a flurry of MOTION, a pigeon guillemot takes flight from the Salish Sea. Furiously churning bright orange feet and flapping white-patched wings causes water to splash upward from the rippling surface of the sea.

Materials & Techniques: Personal photo printed onto cotton then fused to cotton duck. Thread-painted with rayon, silk, and metallic threads. Hand-dyed cotton batting; commercial cotton backing. Quilted with MonoPoly thread. Angelina fiber; oil pastels. Satin-stitched binding.
