Image of "Seventh Generation - Gambling" quilt by Sharon Rowley

Artist Statement: The Native American principle of "The Seventh Generation" calls on its chiefs to consider the impact of their decision making on the seventh generation to come. It is estimated that 6-8 million Americans are problem gamblers, facing broken homes, lost jobs and some turning to crime to fund their gambling addiction, while states increase access to gambling to fund their budget deficits. The family tree traces the seven generations affected by these actions.

Materials & Techniques: Cotton; painted, fused, machine quilted.
