image of quilt titled "Tangle" by Bonnie Bucknam

Artist Statement: Since moving from Alaska to Washington, the thing that strikes me most about the Pacific Northwest - besides rain - is trees! There are some good-size birches in Anchorage, but the spruce are spindly and scrubby - nothing like the vegetation we see here in Washington. Tangle is inspired by the fantastic shapes and colors of the area's trees.

Materials & Techniques:
Hand-dyed cottons by the artist, machine pieced and quilted.

Dimensions: 89"W x 88"H

Honors: Juried into "Color Improvisations", an international, invitational exhibit curated by Nancy Crow. Traveling to museum and gallery venues in Europe and Japan through 2013.

Bonnie also won Best of Show at Quilt National 2011 for her quilt "Crater."
