Artist Statement: Since the late 19th century, the Moulin Rouge has been an inspiration for artists daring to depict the forbidden and those with a risqué lust for life. I like to push the boundaries and break through the limitations implicitly expected in our quilting medium, which is why I chose the infamous site as a subject for my quilt.
Materials & Techniques: Hand-dyed and commercial 100% cotton fabrics, freehand machine embroidery and quilting. Original design from photos by artist.
Dimensions: 13"W x 18"H
Photographer: Christina Erickson
