Artist Statement: Beginning with a single piece of multi-colored sateen, hand-dyed by Heide Stoll-Weber, I cut out shapes of windows and rearranged them to give the sense of a building on fire, just before its collapse. This piece commemorates those victims of the World Trade Center disaster who chose to leap to their deaths rather than be consumed by fire.
Dimensions: 15.5" wide x 64.5" high
Materials and Techniques: Cotton sateen hand dyed by Heide Stoll-Weber (reverse is mainly commercial cotton). Machine pieced and quilted.
