Artist Statement: While on a visit to Arizona, I happened upon an old craggy, giant Saguaro Cactus (cereus giganteus).  As I studied it, I noticed all the holes, prickly parts, lines, wrinkles, rotting parts and colors and did a few sketches.  Once home, I began playing and puttering with my fabric collection and ended up with a sense of that old cactus but something different.
