Artist Statement: A childhood board game called "Shoots and Ladders" came to mind after this quilt was assembled. In the game, the player would move along the board, climbing up ladders to take shortcuts to the finish line, or falling down shoots and losing headway. The viewer's eye takes the same journey, climbing and falling as it journeys across the quilt.
