Artist Statement: Jill Scholtens lives in Lakewood, WA. She hand dyes fabrics to achieve specific moods and balance. Innovative and extensive threadwork, usually done by machine, are integral to her work. This quilt was an original design of the artist inspired by an Associated Press photo taken by Quyen Tran shortly after Sept. 11, 2001. The quilt was selected for a special exhibit at International Quilt Market and Festival, Houston 2002, Rosemount IL 2003 and Portland OR 2003.
