Artist Statement: Based on my photo of an unusual rock formation in Baja California that showed intrusions of black and white minerals in native sandstone. Many "branches" on the shrub are loose, conveying the brittle nature of these hardy plants.
Materials & Techniques: Commercial, hand-dyed, and hand-painted cottons; raffia, string, weaving yarns, linen warp thread. Raw-edge machine appliqué, machine quilting.
Dimensions: 31.5"W x 42"H
