Artist Statement: I took a favorite photograph of a beach closeup and used it for a quilt challenge that required the use of fabrics not usually chosen for quiltmaking. It taught me a great lesson on making materials work for me, and the flair of the unexpected.

Materials & Techniques: Cotton, gold lame, and polyester fabrics. Free-edge appliqué and thread painting.
