Artist Statement: The Chinese chrysanthemum, Che Xian Jin Zhu (dark red threads with golden beads) inspired this art quilt. The Chinese believe that there is a life force within us called 'chi'. The red threads/pleats symbolize the connection of our life force to the three complementary systems of Chinese philosophy: Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian, which are represented by the three similar, yet different, circles.
