Artist Statement: The green slime in water gardens is home to millions of aquatic single-celled plants known as diatoms.  A microscope is needed to see the stunning designs on the surface of these tiny plants.

Materials & Techniques: Commercial, hand dyed and hand painted cotton fabrics, polyester felt and polyester batting. Top layer of fabric and felt was free-motion quilted then painted.  Bottom layer of fabric and batting was free-motion quilted.  The two layers were then quilted together.
