Artist Statement: Where does this boardwalk lead? Does it turn a corner and continue or is it an out and back journey? How does one get to the light? A trip to the Portland, Oregon Japanese Garden could reveal the answer. The garden immediately sent me to my happy place of enjoying nature in a serene setting. The glow behind the pond is the result of the fabric’s colorway value. So magical.

Materials & Techniques: Silk ribbon and embroidery thread hand dyed by me, roving and cotton fabric and paint applied by painting, hand and machine embroidery and fuse.
