Kelp Forest by Ginnie HebertArtist Statement: I love the undulating grace of kelp swaying with the currents of the ocean. It seems a fitting metaphor for the ebb and flow of life’s challenges and mercies. This piece was constructed of all reused materials--men's silk ties and a sheet. Materials & Techniques: I hand-dyed the background fabric as well as the “bleached” silk neckties. The applique is raw-edge held in place with decorative stitching. It is machine quilted. Materials hand-dyed cotton and silk fabric rayon, cotton, polyester thread wool batting Dimensions: 35 x 57 x 0 Photographer: Ginnie Hebert |
