Colleen Wootton - RadianceArtist Statement: My inspiration for “Radiance” came from a painting called “Farbstudie Quadrate”, c.1913 by Wassily Kandinsky. I took his targets and used them into a more contemporary design creating bold geometric patterns and a more contemporary color pallet. Quilting creates texture and design on the surface and the lights emphasize the quilting design and add radiance to the piece. Materials & Techniques: The process of making my art quilts is a step into the future, using computer technology to create original designs on digitally printed fabric, integrating traditional quilt stitching to create texture and definition on the designs’ surface, and lights were added to emphasize the quilting pattern. Dimensions: 52" X 52" Photographer: Colleen Wootton |
