Trying to Stay Neutral by Ginnie Hebert

Trying to Stay Neutral by Ginnie Hebert

Artist Statement: The person who can remain neutral in a contentious situation often facilitates balance and is able to see all sides of a “story”, helping others to forgiveness and reconciliation. However, as this piece exhibits, there are spots of “hot red” amongst the neutrals—it can be very hard to be the “peacemaker”.

Materials & Techniques: Materials - Hand-dyed and commercial fabric, printing ink, water-soluble crayons/pencils, textile medium, cotton thread and batting. Techniques - mono-printed whole cloth with machine-applique, accented with hand coloring using water soluble crayons and pencils with textile medium, machine quilted.
