Calcium Chloride Crystal by Carolyn Maia BurtonArtist Statement: I was stunned by the beautiful colors in a photograph of this humble crystal. I purposely made a varied background of black and dark blue to emphasize the shape and colors. Materials & Techniques: This work is made of about 900 triangles, using the paper-piecing technique. The fabrics include cotton, old silk kimonos, hand-dyed and sheeting. The Czechoslovakian beads are sewn on by hand. Quilted with a stationary long arm. Dimensions: 27 x 27 x 0 Photographer: Art and Soul |
