Pacific Oyster Sculpture by Carla StehrArtist Statement: Pacific Oyster shells are fascinating. I used fabric, felt and paint to bring to light their wonderfully irregular sculpturing, barnacle encrustations and subtle colors. Materials & Techniques: Sandwiches of fabric, ecofelt, wireform mesh, and sculpting wire were machine and hand stitched. Outside surfaces were painted after stitching, inside surfaces were painted before stitching. Shell hinges are Velcro. Barnacles are Kraftex, water-soluble colored pencils, machine and hand stitched. Dimensions: 18 x 25 x 10 Photographer: Carla Stehr |
