Artist Statement: This is the 5th in my Pleiades Constellation raiment series portraying global myths of 7 sisters becoming 7 stars. "Rising Mountain" represents a North American version of the story. The strong women are chased up the mountain by a bear and ascend to the darkened sky as ravens, escaping danger to shine bright a few months of the year.

Materials & Techniques: Natural dyes and watercolour sticks on cotton, attached molted feathers, faux fur and leather, beads. Immersion dyeing, painting with thickened dyes, stencilling and stitched resist.
