Artist Statement: This is the fourth in my series of quilts assembled with butane-torched jewelry chain. The title is Russian for forty minus nine, the number of squares.

Materials & Techniques: Fabrics hand-dyed by artist; torched chain; brass rod. Machine collaged; machine quilted.
