What Lies Beneath by Janet Darcher

Artist Statement: What lies beneath the surface? It is often difficult to determine what lies beneath, you have to observe, investigate, asking questions, ponder. This piece uses a variety of surface design techniques indigo dying, dendritic printing and paper lamination to create interest. Allowing the observer to reflect.

Materials & Techniques: Indigo dyed cotton fabric, acrylic paint, woven paper. Cotton backing and thread, silk batting. Dendritic printing with acrylic paint on indigo dyed fabric. Woven paper was laminated to the surface and sewn down by machine. It is machine quilted.
