Artist Statement: My German, Norwegian, and Danish ancestors’ American journeys began in cities. The lure of land for their own homesteads drew them to the North Woods of Wisconsin and Spirit Township (formerly Brannan). The appliqued background represents a present day aerial photo, couched yarns are roads and streams. A key to the family history represented by beads is on the back of the quilt.
