Running Out of Time: My Battle with Parkinson by Melisse LaingArtist Statement: Many of us who suffer from Parkinson’s Disease, a progressive disorder that affects the nervous system, feel like “Time is Running Out” to find a cure despite extensive research. This feeling inspired this piece and its emulation of a running track. It includes numerous techniques and incorporates upcycled materials, including an old running shoe and various eras of clock faces. Materials & Techniques: Materials: Cotton fabrics hand-dyed by artist; polyester & silk quilting threads; Pellon Peltex stabilizer; magnets; super glue; mounting tape; permanent markers; silk ribbon; embroidery floss.
