Old Growth Cedar by Janet Darcher![]() Artist Statement: I am fortunate to live five miles from this ancient beauty in Pacific County, Washington. A grove of Red Cedars was saved from the chain saw almost 25 years ago. I get lost in thought when wandering beneath a tree that has stood in the same place since the dark ages in Europe. All you see are the gnarled roots, rough bark, and the green canopy. Trees have been a subject of many of my quilts. Materials & Techniques: The OGC is raw edge collage from old clothes. Background was painted with acrylic paint and the canopy is reused eyelash yarn. It was quilted on a DSM using cotton batting and backing. Dimensions: 49 x 14 x 0 Photographer: Janet Darcher |
