Overcoming Shame by Tesi VaaraArtist Statement: Victims of childhood sexual abuse are often caught up in internal shame spirals. Toxic shame causes a child to feel that they must be constantly guarded and makes them feel alone in the most complete way. Materials & Techniques: Background fabric is Radiance (silk/cotton blend) which is used to form the grout between the tiles. Some of the tiles are unique Gelli plate printed fabrics created by the artist using acrylic paints. Commercial fabrics were also used. Tiles are fused, then machine stitched. Dimensions: 15 x 27.5 Photographer: Tesi Vaara |
