Artist Statement: My Pleiades series uses the form of stylized garments to portray global myths of 7 sisters becoming 7 stars. Traditional women have produced, not only clothing for the body, but used materials in their environment to express their culture’s mythology and their personal creativity: Maori of New Zealand

Materials & Techniques: Silk, linen, cotton, feathers, seed pods, greenstone ornament, batting, canvas. Silk acid dyes, Procion dyes and space dyeing. Machine stitching, hand knotting.
