Treasure Boxes by Leslie Dickinson

Artist Statement: I have been sewing since Jr HS, I learned on my mothers 1949 Sears Kenmore, and when I left home my mother gave me the machine. I started out making clothing and it wasn't until a free form curve class in 1995 that I started to venture into Art Quilting. I continue to take classes and started dyeing my own fabrics about 15 yrs ago. Ice dyeing is a particular favorite dye method for me, I enjoy using improve whenever I play with my hand dyes.

Materials & Techniques: This piece was a challenge to myself to use only my hand dyes, and to create my own beads from the hand dyes. I was looking to make something that was organic and created a sense of time passing as we worked our way through lock down.
