An Odd Duck by Carolyn BurtonArtist Statement: This was started in a Joe Cunningham class, where we had to choose three very contrasting fabrics and cut, sew, slash, cut, sew, slash, etc. The image of a duck started to appear. Eventually, a reflection was added to the piece and my odd duck came to life. Materials & Techniques: African cotton, Japanese cotton and hand-dyed cotton. Cotton backing and batting. A large assortment of embroidery thread and perle cotton. A bead for his eye. This was machine-pieced, hand-embroidered and quilted. Dimensions: 13 x 19 x 0 Photographer: Fred Higgins |
