Artist Statement: This is the first of two that I did following back surgery. I consider the whole time - from the initial pain and diagnosis to the surgery and rehab - as a journey in faith. Just as the the surgeon cut into my body and reconfigured it, I cut into a piece of fabric and made it my own by inserting fabrics and reconfiguring.

Materials & Techniques: Fabrics hand-dyed by the artist; polyester thread. Machine pieced and quilted.
