Artist Statement: I collected the panels made in Africa for several years knowing I wanted to make this quilt. The border is inspired by the beaded necklaces many Mali people like to wear and make. The quilting is adapted from an African blanket.

Materials & Techniques: African painted panels and African-inspired fabrics, hand pieced. Machine quilted to reflect a pattern found in an African blanket.
