Louise Harris - Broken CirclesArtist Statement: This piece was made with memories of my travels in the Southwest visiting ancient Indian archeological ruins. I picked colors of the desert landscape and the black and white of the Anasazi pottery. The circular shapes represent the kivas, covered, sacred ceremonial chambers accessed by a ladder. Dimensions: 71" wide x 48" high Materials and Techniques: Cottons - commercial and hand-dyed by Judy Robertson. Irregular 1/4 circles stacked and cut, rearranged, repeated many times, machine pieced and quilted. |
