Artist Statement: My Pleiades series uses the form of stylized garments to portray global myths of 7 sisters becoming 7 stars. Traditional women have produced, not only clothing for the body, but used materials in their environment to express their culture’s mythology and their personal creativity: Java, Indonesia

Materials & Techniques: Cotton, beads. Natural dyes: Madder, Pomegranate, iron, Procion dye, felt pen, batting, canvas. Stencilling, masking, shibori, brushing, drawing. Machine and hand stitching.
