Artist Statement: The Northern Flicker is a frequent visitor to our feeders. Inspired by a tail feather dropped by one of these beauties, I was moved to replicate it on a quilt.

Materials & Techniques: Commercial and hand dyed fabrics. Novelty fabrics and threads. Machine pieced and appliqued on domestic machine. Free motion and machine guided quilting.
