Artist Statement: I wanted a feeling of distant planets, but several people could see lanterns, hence 'Sun Lanterns'. Interestingly enough, pictures of the surface of the sun were published the day after I had done uncannily similar quilting on my 'suns'.

Materials & Techniques: Machine pieced and quilted; hand stitched sashiko embellishments. Hand dyed cotton, Yukata cotton, Kona cotton and Japanese sashiko thread.
