Artist Statement: I knew I had a quilt when I found a piece of dead coral on a beach. And yes, Patrick in SpongeBob SquarePants does have the same shape as a sea star!

Materials & Techniques: Handsewn using ombre embroidery thread and Sashiko stitching. Using torn cotton fabric squares I twisted them into a vague circle then stitched them down using my pattern markings on interfacing ironed to the back of the silk. The markings were from a blown up photo I took of a chunk of coral. A few jewelry surprises are included.
