Artist Statement: East of Madagascar is the Island of Mauritius, home and final resting place of the Dodo bird, extinct since 1681, wiped out by mankind.

Materials & Techniques: Fused commercial and dyed cotton fabrics with 50/50 silk/cotton.
Inkjet photo transfer onto commercial fabrics of dodo bird images.
Reverse applique to capture shadows.
