Artist Statement: You can picture yourself coming up the cobblestone path to visit, looking thru the arches to the Potomac River, walking thru the portico to the lawn. Having a picnic on the rolling hills, sitting on a dock with your feet in the river drinking a cool glass of lemonade in the summer heat, smelling the sweet scent of the climbing roses as you stroll under the archways.

Materials & Techniques:  In 1985 I took this photo of Mt Vernon, enlarged photo, printed it, made a pattern of freezer paper. Pieced, direct applique, trapunto, fabric painting. Machine quilted, cotton batting.
