Artist Statement: Corona was completed just prior to February 2020 before “Corona” became one of the reference for the pandemic.This quilt is a whole cloth quilt from fabric rust dyed in the summer of 2019. The patterning reminds me of the suns corona. The corona is not always evenly distributed across the surface of the Sun, and rust dye is random with little ability to control the outcome; similar to the Corona.

Materials & Techniques: Corona is made from Kona fabric rust dyed by the artist last summer. Free Motion quilting on a DSM is used to give the piece a feeling of movement and enhance the aura of the corona.
