Artist Statement: On a recent trip to Mexico I was compelled to buy the glittering Barbi doll shoes at a traveling marketplace. By the time I returned to my studio, I knew Barbi must have worn a different pair each night of her Mexican holiday, dancing the nights away.

Materials & Techniques: The blocks are machine pieced of mostly Bali batik fabrics, then machine quilted with an echoing Barbi head silhouette in each. Confetti pieces and shoes are hand tied with cotton floss.
