Ice and Fire by Geraldine WarnerArtist Statement: I created this spontaneous composition entirely from my own hand-dyed silk fabrics. I love the process of ice dyeing and the serendipitous effects that result from dyes slowly dripping through melting ice onto the fabric. Each ice-dyed fabric is a piece of artwork in itself, until it is cut up and takes on a new life in combination with others. Materials & Techniques: Machine pieced and free-motion machine quilted on a domestic machine. Silk fabrics, cotton interfacing, batting and backing, and silk and cotton threads. Dimensions: 41 x 38 x 0 Photographer: Heidi Swoboda |
